Police say an Amityville man who was already facing charges from earlier this month for a violent robbery is arrested once again, and in this new case, it allegedly involves a gun, a kidnapping, and rape.

Nassau County Police say 24-year old Levar Burton of Amityville, has been arrested twice this month, with both involving allegations of sexual abuse.

The young man who shares the name with a famous actor was arrested Monday in connection with a violent rape case from December that is separate from a violent robbery that took place on March 7 for which he also faces charges.

Court records show Burton was out on bond for the March incident when he was arrested Monday.

Detectives say back on Dec. 27, Burton was on Terminal Road in West Hempstead when he approached a woman around 4 a.m. armed with a handgun. Police say he drove the woman to an unknown location and raped her before he ran away from the scene on foot.

Meantime, for the March 7 incident, police say a 39-year old woman was walking on Middle Neck Road in Great Neck around 4:15 a.m. when Burton approached her from behind, armed with a knife. Police say when the woman refused to hand him money, Burton used his hand to touch the victim inappropriately.

Detectives say he also stole two phones from the woman before he ran away on foot. For that case, Burton was arraigned on charges including first-degree robbery and first-degree sexual assault.
