Major League Baseball has decided to suspend Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez and do it in a way that has never been bestowed upon any other player. The amount of games will be unprecedented and the way they went about acquiring the evidence was, let’s just say, unique.

But why has MLB singled out A-Rod in a fashion not even used to single out Ryan Braun, who lied and abused the testing system? And how could they suspend A-Rod in such a fashion when this “great testing” process failed to spot his abuse of drugs?

Monday we caught up with Yankees GM Brian Cashman. We spoke one on one on Field 3 while the pitchers were going through fielding drills and long tossing. Cashman thinks that Teixeira, Cano and Youkilis will have to supply the power in the lineup, and feels Nova had a sophomore slump but can bounce back.

Woke up to 38 degree temperatures. Feels like Opening Day in the Bronx April 1st vs. Boston. Spoke to Ivan Nova, Jayson Nix and Curtis Granderson. They all thought the weather reminded them of April in NYC.

Nova spoke about learning from last year and improving this year. Remember he struggled but he is a very confident guy, who is young, and is still learning the game. Chatted with Phil Hughes off camera about ice hockey. The Yankees starter who is a free agent after the season is a huge Tampa Bay Lightning fan. He loves going to the games. He grew up in Southern California.
