Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Fifth Precinct officers are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the man who stole packages from a doorstep in Ronkonkoma.

A man stole five packages that had been recently delivered outside of a home, located on Chestnut Avenue on December 20, 2012. The items stolen had a value of more than $120.

The suspect was described as white, approximately 40 years old, bald and clean shaven. He was wearing a brown ski jacket and black pants.

Both East and Westbound lanes of the Long Island Expressway are shut down at Exit 68 in Shirley at this hour after a reported multiple vehicle crash. Suffolk County Police says a call came in around 2:40 p.m. Wednesday. A tractor-trailer was involved in the accident, with many injuries reported at the scene. There's no status on the nature of the injuries. Authorities are encouraging commuters heading out East to use alternative routes Wednesday evening.

SUFFOLK COUNTY — Suffolk County Police released a composite drawing Saturday night of a female victim whose remains were found along the Ocean Parkway in April 2010. According to media reports, the woman's remains are one of 11 discovered near Gilgo Beach since December 2010. Reports also say the unidentified remains match a pair of severed legs found on Fire Island in April of 1996.
