SYOSSET — The Long Island Curling Club held an event on Saturday to capitalize on this year's Winter Olympics to get people interested in curling while simultaneously donating books and food to those in need.

Dozens of people came out to the event at the Long Island Sports Hub to learn more about the Olympic sport and to benefit a good cause.

"It's not just about, 'Hey, come curl with us,' 'Hey, come and find out about the sport;' it's come and support those on Long Island in need," said Bobby Iadanza of the Long Island Curling Club. "If we're not doing that, then we're not really being a good neighbor and we need to do that."
