Suffolk County Police have arrested a suspect for a hit-and-run that led to the death of an East Patchogue man.

With the help of surveillance video, authorities say they decided Ruddy Velasquez Morales was the man driving the vehicle that struck and killed 64-year-old Warren Karstendick on Sunday. Karstendick was walking on the eastbound shoulder of Main Street in East Patchogue when police say he was struck.

He was then taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital where he died.

Karstendick relied on the use of a cane to walk because of vision problems.

Velasquez Morales, who is charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, is being arraigned in Suffolk County Court Thursday.
