Police officer crashes car while responding to call of possibly intoxicated driver

Suffolk County: Suspect’s car was stopped and he was charged with DWI

An intoxicated man was found passed out in his car at a Farmingdale 7-Eleven parking, police say.

The officer called for backup after he used his Taser on the suspect for resisting arrest, according to authorities.

While responding to the scene to assist, the other officer crashed his car into a fence and unto a lawn on South Evergreen Drive. He was not hurt.

Police say the suspect was taken to a local hospital with a head injury he sustained after falling. The man has been charged with DWI.
