'Long Island Fight for Charity' participants meet the people they're fighting for

The annual boxing event stages matches to raise money for local charities

OLD BETHPAGE - Each year, the Long Island Fight For Charity event stages a series of boxing matches to raise money for charities.

On Wednesday, the volunteers who will be fighting in the matches got the chance to meet the Long Islanders they are fighting for at Family Residences and Essential Enterprises (FREE), a non-profit benefits and supports over 4,000 individuals on Long Island. Participants in the boxing matches were taken on a tour of the facility and treated to special performances by the FREE Drum Corps and Singers.

Over the last 14 years, the annual charity boxing event has raised $1.1M for local charities. Boxers will step into the ring on November 19 at the Long Island Hilton.
