Couple from Bay Shore faces multiple animal cruelty charges

SPCA officers say they found 9 cats living in squalor in the couple's home

HAUPPAUGE - A couple was arrested and charged with multiple offenses of animal cruelty on Thursday after the Suffolk County SPCA received a complaint that animals were living in unsanitary and inhumane living conditions in their home.

Nine cats were removed from the home, which officers said was had feces, urine, debris and garbage covering the floor.

Michelle and Michael Tashbook, 46 and 42, have been arrested and charged.

SPCA officials say that the cats appear to be okay, and are currently being evaluated at a local animal shelter.
