Nassau PD: 80-year-old woman killed in Hempstead hit-and-run

Investigators say incident occurred at intersection of Washington Avenue and Nicols Court


HEMPSTEAD— Nassau County police are looking for the driver who they say hit an 80-year-old woman and left her to die at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Nicols Court just before 9 p.m. Tuesday.

The victim was pronounced dead shortly after at a local hospital.

FiOS1 News confirmed the identity of the victim, a female, but is not releasing her name until police put it out once family has been notified.

Police say the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run was recovered parked on a Hempstead Street. No arrest has been made.
