Seven seniors of Walt Whitman High School were honored Tuesday at the South Huntington School District main office for enlisting to serve our country.

The honorees were joined by veterans for breakfast. The five students able to attend the ceremony were each called up to the front of the room, presented with a flag and thanked for their future service.

Vice president of the South Huntington School Board says this is the second year they've held this ceremony to honor their students who enlisted.

Tuesday's military breakfast falls on D-Day and the school says it was timely to also pay respects to those fallen soldiers.

The student honorees will graduate high school in a few weeks, spend time with family, then begin their careers in the military.
