Islip Terrace man accused of strangling his wife to death appears in court

Steven Strub, 39, pleaded not guilty to strangling his wife Rachelle Weeks-Strub

Steven Strub, 39, appeared in court on Thursday in Central Islip for allegedly strangling and killing his wife, Rachelle Weeks-Strub.

Weeks-Strub's body was found inside of her apartment in Centerreach on June 1. Strub checked himself into a rehab facility just after the incident, as he has been diagnosed with several mental health disorders, including bipolar disorder and anxiety disorder.

Strub's lawyer said that Strub was concerned how his wife was doing while he was in the rehab center. When police interviewed Strub, he gave a video confession where he admitted to strangling his wife with his arm.

However, Strub pleaded not guilty in court on Thursday and his case is being moved to a grand jury. He is facing 25 years to life in prison if convicted of second-degree murder.
