The heroin and prescription drug epidemic, cyber bullying, career opportunities and the future that the Island holds for its young people were main issues discussed at the annual Long Island Youth Summit on Friday in Oakdale.

Various workshops were held, so students could collaborate with each other and explore solutions to environmental, social, and economic issues.

Students submitted in-depth school projects ranging from music’s impact on academic success to the importance of art in schools in order to be selected to attend the summit. The participants received awards at the end of the summit for their achievements.
