Man charged for keeping 15k pounds of fireworks in storage unit

Cops: A powerful blast could have resulted from the fireworks

CENTRAL ISLIP – Shirley resident Anthony Beneveto faced charges on Thursday in an arraignment court after police said they found 15,000 pounds of fireworks at a storage unit in Suffolk County. Beneveto is facing several charges including illegal storage of explosives, which is a Class E felony.

Police said they found two truckloads of fireworks contained in 380 boxes.

Cops said a powerful explosion could have resulted from the fireworks.

In an unrelated arraignment happening at the arraignment court, Dawn Taddeo was arrested because she was driving with 89 license suspensions and revocations, according to police.
