Document outlines 41 charges against Hempstead schools superintendent

Dr. Shimon Waronker has been on paid administrative leave since January

HEMPSTEAD — Hempstead School District Superintendent Dr. Shimon Waronker has received 41 charges filed against him, including conflict of interest, bid-rigging, dis-enrollment of 294 students, among others.

Waronker started his 4-year contract in June 2017, hoping to turn the Hempstead School District around. During that time, however he has butted heads with several school board members over a variety of issues, and he has been on paid administrative leave since January. Now, the board is trying to take steps in order to permanently dismiss him.
