UNIONDALE — Detectives say officers responded to the intersection of Cedar Street and Duryea Avenue early Sunday morning after they received a call about a man with a machete who had attacked another man. Officers arrested Pierre Fede of Uniondale just before 1 a.m. when they say he was seen running with the machete in his hands. Fede was arraigned on multiple charges included robbery and assault.

While it's not clear if the cuts and abrasions to the victim's face and ear were caused by the machete, police confirmed the victim was treated for injuries at a local hospital.

Detectives say further investigation reveals that Fede had stolen the victim's cell phone and some cash.
