Costumes take over Brentwood High – before Halloween

Students uplift women and young girls by celebrating International Day of the Girl

Brentwood — On Wednesday, as an act of women's empowerment, freshman girls at Brentwood High School dressed in costumes of their favorite female characters for the International Day of the Girl. The holiday was coined by the nonprofit, Girls Inc.

From lab coats, hospital scrubs, and even a student dressed as Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, it was important to show a wide representation of how girls can make a difference.

The day aims to advocate and empower young women nationwide. Particularly at Brentwood, the holiday is especially important to celebrate girls and their needs.

International Day of the Girl may only last for 24 hours, but participants at Brentwood High School are dedicated to empowering young women year-round.
