SHIRLEY — Suffolk Police say the William Floyd Parkway is reopen in both directions after a deadly car crash forced road closures Monday morning.

A source tells FiOS1 New police ordered a speeding driver to pull over on William Floyd Parkway. Investigators say the driver apparently tried to get away and eventually drove his car from the northbound side to the southbound side and crashed into a tree by the Roma Funeral Home near the Long Island Railroad station.

The crash investigation caused major delays since it extended into the daylight hours and shut down a very busy portion of William Floyd Parkway during the morning rush.

There is no word yet on the identity of that driver.
