ELMONT — Nassau County police say they need the public’s help in identifying two men who were caught on surveillance footage burglarizing the Elmont Jewish Center Saturday night.

Detectives say sometime after 7 o'clock the men burglarized the center, which neighbors say was sold recently and is in the process of transitioning.

While a motive for the burglary is not clear, detectives say the men, both of whom have braids and are wearing Nike flip flops, are responsible for damaging security cameras, wiring, and an air conditioning unit. The total damage is estimated to be more than $1,000.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-244-TIPS.
