BETHPAGE — Down 5 to 2 at the half, Bethpage (5-2) scored 4 goals in the first 5:58 of the 3rd quarter and then senior Joey Poggio scored the game-winning goal with 3:15 left in the game to lift the Golden Eagles over the Lynbrook Owls (3-4) in the opening game in Nassau Conference C/D-1 at Howard C. Vogts Field in Bethpage, New York. After being held scoreless in the first half, Poggio scored 4 goals in the second half. Junior midfielder Kevin Leon also contributed for Golden Eagles with 2 goals. Lynbrook was led by their goalie, junior Kevin Loonie who made a career-high 11 saves in the loss.

Lynbrook and Bethpage both continue conference play on Friday, April 20th with Lynbrook at home vs 3-time defending NY State Class C Champion Cold Spring Harbor, while Bethpage is at home vs Wheatley/Carle Place.
