The Mepham Pirates (3-10) pick up their first win in Nassau Conference B-1 game with a 7 to 6 win in overtime over the Long Beach Marines (7-7) in a major upset at Alumni Field on the campus of Long Beach High School in Lido Beach, New York. Junior attack Mike Laupheimer intercepted a pass from Long Beach goalie Luke Mignoli and tallied the game-winning goal with 1:45 left in the first overtime to catapult the Pirates to victory. Long Beach took a 6-4 lead late in the fourth quarter, but Mepham came back with two goals in 1:12 by Matt Wroblewski to tie the game at 6. Long Beach had chances to win at both the end of regulation and in the overtime, but the Mepham defense and goalie Mike McCarthy held the fort.

Mepham and Long Beach conclude the regular season in Nassau Conference B-1 on Monday, May 14th with Mepham taking on MacArthur and Long Beach at home vs Hewlett.
