Man in Bay Shore struck by lightning

Construction worker now in ‘stable condition,’ residents nearby say he was lucky

BAY SHORE — Many Long Islanders say a man was lucky to only suffer minor injuries after he was struck by lightning. Throughout the morning, strong winds and heavy rain spread across Long Island. Police say just after 10 a.m., a 48-year-old employee of Roman Stone Construction was struck by lightning while he was outside of the business. Upon arrive, Suffolk County police say that he was alert and responsive.

Since the incident, the man is reportedly in “stable condition” at a local hospital, according to family members.
