Man that injured mom, daughter in DWI crash sentenced to over 4 years in prison

Since the collision, the 10-year-old victim has suffered from memory loss, permanent damage to her face

MINEOLA — A Long Island man was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for driving drunk and crashing into a mother and her 10-year-old daughter, causing them to sustain serious injuries.

In a heartfelt statement, the mother explained that her daughter now suffers from memory loss, backaches, headaches and has permanent damage to her right eye and face after they were hit by Eugene Golden in March of 2016. According to the district attorney’s office, Golden was driving under the influence and had a blood-alcohol level of .27 when he drove into oncoming traffic and crashed into the victims. At the time, both the victims were in critical condition with severe injuries.

Golden spoke today before being sentenced and said he is working towards becoming a better person and that he is terribly sorry for what happened that evening. His family did not comment but they were visibly upset leaving the courtroom after he was sentenced.
