HEMPSTEAD — A source is telling FiOS1 News that the MS-13 gang is looking to kill a police officer in the Hempstead area because of too much police activity. The source says the entire Nassau County Police Department was notified this week about the threat.

According to a memo the New York Post obtained, the gang allegedly said they want to kill a cop in Hempstead to make a statement.

According to the informant, the suspect said, "The police have been making too many arrests and it's time to take the streets back and take out (shoot) a cop like we do in El Salvador."

The suspect in this article is described as a tall, light-skinned Hispanic man with a thin build and three dots next to his eye.

It is reported any MS-13 gang member can carry out this threat and now police are on high alert.

The NYPD released a statement on this saying quote, "The NYPD is aware of threats made by MS-13 members against police officers on Long Island. All members of the NYPD were provided with details of the threat, and as always, have been reminded to remain vigilant, on and off duty. The NYPD continues to work with local, state and federal law enforcement partners to investigate these threats."
