Suffolk County officials issue new initiative to keep students safe

School cameras will be shared with local police precints

BRENTWOOD — To keep Suffolk County families safe, officials and local law enforcement are taking new strides to be prepared for an active shooter situation by enforcing a new school safety initiative, called “S.H.A.R.E.” Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone says that if a dangerous situation occurs, the police department will now be able to see inside of the school building by connecting to the school’s existing camera system. Additionally, Bellone says that tactical units are deployed in every precinct and are increasing their armor, helmets, and gear.
