EAST PATCHOGUE — Suffolk police say a gas station in Brookhaven was the scene of an armed robbery minutes after an attempted robbery at another station in East Patchogue Sunday before 9 p.m.

Shortly after the incident in East Patchogue, detectives say they received a call about a robbery at just 3 miles down the road.

Detectives say a man walked into the OK Petroleum gas station in Brookhaven and approached the clerk with a handgun. He demanded money from the employee, who complied, and then walked out of the store, according to investigators. It's not clear exactly how much cash the suspect made away with, but the clerk was not injured.

Police have not identified the male suspect they believe to be tied to the two incidents.
