Victims identified in deadly gas station crash in Commack

Surveillance video shows car traveling at a high rate of speed, heading into gas station

COMMACK, N.Y. (AP) — Police on Long Island say Brentwood resident Hector Sanchez Jr., 27, and his passenger Shawn Jenkins, 23, were killed when their car crashed into a gas station and caught fire.

Surveillance video from the car wash next door show a vehicle at 2:04 a.m. traveling at a high rate of speed. A second look at another angle at the same time morning shows a vehicle heading into the gas station.

According to the New York Post , the men were heading west on Jericho Turnpike in Commack (KOH'-mak) when the driver lost control and hit a gas pump at around 2 a.m. on Wednesday.

Suffolk County police say both men were pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is still under investigation.
