FIRE ISLAND — Long Islanders are still flocking to Fire Island despite two apparent shark attacks Wednesday and a few other shark sightings Thursday morning.

A purple flag has been up all day at Atlantique Beach and it indicates sea pests like jellyfish, Portuguese Man o' Wars, and sharks. Lifeguards say fisherman pulled in two sharks earlier Thursday morning, though the Town of Islip is only confirming one.
