MINEOLA — Nassau County Comptroller Jack Schnirman says he wants to reverse a culture of corruption in the county government.

"The way the county spends, tracks, and collects your tax dollars is broken," Schnirman said.

According to findings uncovered by the comptroller's office, decentralized operations, a lack of transparency, and weak internal controls and poor data management have all contributed to putting the county on the brink of a fiscal emergency.
