Nassau legislator accused of grabbing, pushing girlfriend appears before judge

Carrie Solages allegedly assaulted his girlfriend in front her daughter and his young son

Nassau County Leg. Carrie Solages, who is accused of assaulting his girlfriend, had a court date at Hempstead First District Court Thursday.

Solages appeared before a judge with a new attorney. The assistant district attorney handed over two videos to Solages' attorney, which prosecutors will use as evidence against the legislator.

Solages is accused of grabbing and pushing his girlfriend after allegedly accusing her of hiding his marijuana. This all allegedly happened in front of his young son and his girlfriend's daughter.

In court documents, Solages’ girlfriend said the abuse has been going on for at least two years and says Solages had told her he owned the courts and the police. He also allegedly told her that if she called the police, nothing would happen to him.

Solages has pleaded not guilty in this case. His next court date is set for the beginning of September.
