MERRICK — Cars lined up for hours along Merrick Avenue Tuesday afternoon in hopes to buy gas for $1.98 per gallon at the Mobile station in Merrick. The cheap price was part of a promotion by the Long Island radio station KJOY 98.3. The promotion started at 12 p.m. and the first 98 lucky cars on line were able to purchase up to 10 gallons of fuel.
