Officials: No Students, Faculty Outside Building During Incident
NORTH MERRICK — Detectives say a man was taken into custody after a high-speed chase ended in a crash at Harold D. Fayette School Tuesday. According to Nassau police, two armed Hispanic males stole a vehicle from the driveway of a Hicksville home and sped away. Officers then followed the car through Merrick Avenue into school grounds before it crashed into the building. Detectives say the officers apprehended one of the men and are continuing their search for the second suspect.
Officials say the school was placed under lockdown and that no students or faculty members were outside during the incident.
