Chase Ended in Crash at North Merrick School
NORTH MERRICK — Three suspected carjackers are in custody in connection to the high-speed police chase that ended in a crash at Harold D. Fayette Elementary School on Tuesday. Police arrested Shameik Howard, Remick Menjivar, and Edwin Flores for allegedly carjacking an Infinity vehicle. Detectives say two of the men asked the victim for directions while he was working on his car at his home, and then pointed a gun and stole the vehicle.
Once officers were alerted, they followed the vehicle down Merrick Avenue and into the school grounds where officials say the car crashed into the school building. Menjivar was arrested at the scene of the crash, police say.
