Districts Had Earlier Missed Deadline to File Paperwork
LONG ISLAND — Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo and the Senate Majority Republicans are poised to restore millions of dollars of construction aid to five Long Island school districts that lost it after they missed deadlines to file paperwork. The lawmakers are proposing the restoration of a portion of the $100 million in canceled aid but Senate Democrats want to release all of the funds. The five school districts set to receive the aid are Central Islip, Smithtown, Rocky Point, Babylon and Oyster Bay East Norwich. State budget negotiations are delaying the release of the construction aid.
