ISLIP – Police have arrested an alleged member of the MS-13 gang and charged him with two counts of murder. Carlos Ortega of Bay Shore is accused of killing David Sandler in Brentwood and taking part in the death of Mario Alberto Quijada in Queens. Ortega pleaded not guilty to the charges on Tuesday.

Ortega is one of 40 MS-13 gang members on Long Island indicted on several federal charges. If convicted, he could face the death penalty.
