PLAINVIEW — A Plainview mother was indicted Wednesday on second-degree murder charges relating to the death of her 8-year-old daughter in the summer of 2011. Veronica Cirella was originally charged with manslaughter after prosecutors said she fed her daughter Julie food she was allergic to and then allowed her to die. Police said they found Cirella with a cord around her neck laying near her daughter with what appeared to be a suicide note. Police believe the incident was a murder-suicide attempt.

Cirella's attorney claims that the medical examiner's report contradicts the District Attorney's claims. Cirella will remain in prison until her trial.
