NESCONSET — Capt. Al Pizzano, 49, of Smithtown and Officer Matthew Granahan, 35, of Nesconset, are recovering at home after a hostage situation in Brooklyn turned into a shootout. Police were called to the Sheepshead Bay home of 33-year-old Nakwon Foxworth when he barricaded himself inside his apartment, taking his girlfriend and an infant hostage. After the woman and child managed to escape, officers entered the home, where Foxworth opened fire wounding four officers. Officers returned fire striking Foxworth in the abdomen but he managed to flee the scene.

The other two officers involved in the shooting are still hospitalized, but listed in stable condition. Foxworth was arrested Sunday morning in Far Rockaway.
