HAUPPAUGE — More than 50 survivors of traumatic brain injuries had their identities stolen by a supervisor of a health agency assisting them, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota. In a Monday press conference, Spota announced charges against Benjamin Achampong, 30, saying he filed phony tax returns with the Internal Revenue Service in at least two states and collected over $200,000 in refunds. Achampong was charged with grand larceny, identity theft and other crimes in a 48-count indictment.
