FARMINGVILLE — Friends and neighbors of Lieutenant Richard Nappi reacted with shock and dismay to the news that the 17-year veteran of the New York Fire Department died Monday while fighting a blaze in Brooklyn. Nappi was fighting a warehouse fire when he apparently became overheated and suffered heat exhaustion. He was rushed to Woodhull Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Nappi is survived by his wife Mary Anne, 12-year-old daughter Catherine and 11-year-old son Nicholas.
