Governor Andrew Cuomo's property tax cap is about to face a serious challenge by at least 16 school districts on the island. The districts, including Floral Park and East Islip, are looking to take advantage of a loophole that allows a cap increase if a 60 percent voter "supermajority" is reached.

Parents in East Islip have already been taking matters into their hands by raising money to keep the school's athletic programs funded.
