HEMPSTEAD — A five-alarm fire at an apartment complex at 590 Fulton Avenue has sent 31 people to the hospital, including two responders. Authorities say the fire apparently began in a stove on the second floor of the building and spread to the fifth floor. Some residents are being allowed back in the building to collect personal belongings. It's unclear the extent of the damage inside each apartment.
