MERRICK – It took a long time for NFL veteran Steve Weatherford to find his way to the top and his home in New York. Earlier this year, Weatherford shared his story and his day with children at Coleman Country Day Camp.

"Last year this time I didn't know if I'd have an NFL job and now New York has really embraced my as one of its own," the Super Bowl XLVI champ said. Weatherford told the campers that effort and attitude are always under your own control. He also punted balls, answered questions and even let some campers try on his ring.

Camp director Ross Coleman said the visit was about bringing in outstanding role models, not just successful athletes.
