Police Say Sgt. Craig Bier Was Shot in Both Legs Wednesday Night
The New York Police Department officer from Long Island who authorities said was shot in both legs, Sgt. Craig Bier, was released from the hospital Friday. Authorities said the 15-year veteran was injured in Queens Wednesday night after he and his partner tried to stop a man who ran after the officers spotted him. When the officers began pursuit, officials said the suspect, John Thomas, opened fire with a Ruger 9mm handgun.
The NYPD has put up a $22,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of Thomas.
