SOUTHHAMPTON — Keeling Pilaro made headlines back in April when the Suffolk County Section XI, a high school sports organization, banned him from playing on a Southampton girls' field hockey team. Pilaro had started playing on the team because there were no boys' field hockey teams in Long Island.

After review, Pilaro has been granted the opportunity to play on the team and he opened the season victoriously with his teammates on Monday. Pilaro’s continued participation with the team in the spring will be determined over time. He currently plays as a freshman for the Southampton High School field hockey team.
