City and Teachers Fail to Ink Deal
NEW YORK, N.Y. — Mayor Bloomberg says that city officials will not sign a deal with the teachers union just to get state funding. The city and the United Federation of Teachers failed to meet a deadline on Jan. 17 to discover the best way to evaluate 75,000 teachers. Complications began to arise because the union was demanding a two-year “sunset clause”. The city is expected to lose 450 million in federal aid and grants for missing the teacher evaluation deadline.
