School-Based Health Centers Distribute 12,000 Does of Plan B
NEW YORK, N.Y. — Mayor Bloomberg’s administration is standing by their tough stance on preventing teen pregnancy. Last year, New York City public schools began distributing the morning-after pill to sexually active students. However, handouts of the pill skyrocketed in 2012. City officials say that 567 girls from 13 different public schools received Plan B. New data supports the increase by showing that more than 50 school-based health centers distributed 12,000 doses of the morning-after pill during the 2011-2012 academic year.
