NORTH MASSAPEQUA — Students at Albany Avenue Elementary School set aside their regular Friday schedule to discuss the weekend's tenth anniversary of 9/11 and to learn about the events of the tragic day. Considering that the majority of the students at the school were born after September 11th, for some the day has a special connection to them. The father of eight-year-old Julia Komorowski was a Chinatown-based firefighter that helped people escape from the North Tower, while Jake Oemke's father, a New York police officer, rushed into the World Trade Center to pull people out as soon as the first plane struck one of the towers.
