HICKSVILLE — Each year, thousands of greyhounds that cannot perform on the racetrack are euthanized, unless they find a forever home. Long Island Greyhound Transfer is a volunteer group dedicated to saving as many of these graceful, intelligent animals as possible. Some volunteers say the dogs have actually saved them, offering unconditional love, focus and a way to give back to their community.
