Suffolk County Police Department's recently created FAST team executed search warrants in North Amityville Friday morning.

It led to 13 arrests and the confiscation of firearms, crack cocaine, nearly $1,000 in cash and assorted drug paraphernalia, according to officials.

Police say the items were recovered from two known gang locations in the community.

Eight people were arrested during a raid at a Smith Street home, a location allegedly affiliated with the gang “No Beef Chasing Chicken.” Five others were taken into custody after a search at the Miller Avenue home that authorities say is affiliated with the rival gang called “Swerve.”

“We believe that the execution of both search warrants prevented a violent altercation bettered these 2 rival gangs,” said Suffolk County Police Commissioner Tim Sini.
The 13 arrested face a number of weapons and drug charges.
