Police say they've arrested four people and charged them with endangering the welfare of a child after investigating several businesses in Suffolk County for the sale of e-cigarettes to minors.

Businesses in Suffolk County were probed after officials received complaints that some were selling to customers under the age of 18.

Police say they checked 10 businesses in all for compliance with the law and found people selling to minors at four businesses: a Valero gas station in Oakdale, Island Hookah in Sayville, the Bellport Smokeshop in Bellport, and the Juice Box in Holbrook.

The suspects were issued tickets to appear in court and the owners of these four businesses were issued violation notices by the department of health.

Police say that Hookah City and BP gas station in Medford refused to sell e-cigarettes to minors, as did Coastal Gas Station in Holbrook and High Times Vape in Patchogue.

The suspects will appear in first district court in Central Islip on these charges toward the end of September.
