PD: Man who sexually assaulted woman at Robert Moses State Park still at large

Police say the victim sustained injuries from the attack

State park police released a sketch of a man wanted in connection with an attempted forcible sex assault and forcible touching at Robert Moses State Park in Babylon.

The incident happened at 11:45 p.m. on July 23 near the entrance to Field 2.

The victim's age was not made public, investigators say she was young, but not a minor.

The victim also sustained non-life threatening injuries during the attack, though details about those injuries are not being released.

In the meantime, investigators hope this sketch will lead them to the suspect.

“We have a composite sketch of what we believe the suspect looks like, it was done with the victim. Right now we're working with the district attorney's office in Suffolk County and major crimes,” NYS Parks Police Det. Nicholas Stephani said.

The female victim described her attacker as a white male, 40 to 45-years-old, around 6-feet tall and approximately 210 pounds. At the time of the incident, he was wearing jean shorts and a white tee shirt.

Beach goers are shocked to hear about the assault but are glad that it was reported.

“Wow, that's pretty scary. I come here every single day with my family. Just thinking about that, it's very, very scary,” Monica Fogarty of West Islip said.

If you know anything about this suspect you can call state park police at 631-321-3700.
